About TANIYA
Who am I?
I like to create, innovate and problem-solve. Being in the field of Chemistry matches greatly with my inherent interests. While in a lab, I create molecules to have preferential interactions with biological systems.
Professionally, I'm a bio-organic chemist with ten years of experience in research and development. I specialize in synthetic organic chemistry, analytical and process development, protein characterization and enzymology.
A prestigious award to attend 65th Lindau Nobel Laureates meeting in 2015 opened my world to the limitless possibilities. Inspired, I earned my PhD in Chemistry from University of British Columbia, Vancouver in 2022.
For little over a year, I worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist in lipid nanoparticle technologies field for genomic medicine at NanoVation Therapeutics. I have expertise in synthesizing clinically approved ionizable lipids and building blocks for novel ionizable lipids in large quantities and high purity by developing efficient processes. I then briefly worked with Resilience Biosciences Inc. for process development and scale up syntheses of small molecules that are modulators of dopamine receptor.
Currently, I am a Scientist at Cytiva helping clients achieve their goals and developing robust novel analytical methods for clinical success of emerging nanomedicines.
What do I love outside of work?
I enjoy green and natural spaces. I love hiking in the backcountry of British Columbia landscapes and connecting with Nature. When not outside, I enjoy creating art through painting, crafts and photography. I also volunteer in science outreach programs for people of all ages and it is a fulfilling experience.
While I innovate, I keep sustainability at the centre stage to protect the environment we live in.
